First attempt at video: Lucy birdcalling out the window to a bird on the fire escape. This was actually going on for about 30 seconds, but I just caught the tail end on camera. So it doesn't have most of the funny noises she makes when she does it. Still, I wanted to try and put up a video. There's a second one of the view outside the window.

Hello All

Hi! So I've always been pretty suspicious of using electronic means to have social interactions because it just always seemed sort of fake. I'm not sure exactly why that is. But for the same reason you're not supposed to have important conversations on the phone if you could do it in person, so I always felt like I should try to avoid talking to people on facebook and like that. Also, I'm starting to get a little freaked out by the fact that HR folks now seem to feel that social spaces online should adhere to work ettiquette simply because they are public, which is a little creepy in a 1984 way.
About a month ago, I realized that I actually never actually do keep in good touch with people and that it's really impossible to do that with more than one or two folks unless you live near each other. Since I'm just getting out of law school and the folks I know are scattering to all corners of the Earth (Brooklyn, for example), I thought I should just bite the bullet and start trying to keep in touch en masse with a blog. This is actually much harder than I figured. Hopefully I'll figure out how to make the whole thing less cheesey than this post sounds to me. But anyhow, I'm going to make an honest attempt to update fairly often with even mundane things, and we'll see now it goes. Coming soon is a video of my new place just as soon as I clean it up enough to show - so in the next few weeks.
Oh, and a special hello to snooping HR people. Welcome to the family. Now don't be jerks.
